Martin Porter is a pianist living in Brooklyn. He grew up learning the Jazz tradition in Cleveland, OH, went to school for Jazz Performance in Toronto, and has been living in the New York area for two years. He is currently in a period of deep learning, studying with Sophia Rosoff, Jacob Sacks, Ethan Iverson, and Ellery Eskelin. He has performed with many musicians over the years, including Clark Terry, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Young, Tim Ries, and many other pillars of the Cleveland and Toronto Jazz scenes.

He is writing this blog to learn, although it is slowly becoming a platform for Jazz discussion across the many cities he’s lived in.
